When Jerry first commissioned Doug to build Tiger in 1972, his only instruction to Doug was ‘Go All Out’. Inspired by Jerry’s faith in him, Doug went straight to work. He elaborated on the Eagle inlay from Jerry’s first Irwin Guitar, layering in the globe w/ detailed geography. Using materials like mother of pearl and abalone shell, Doug breathed new life into this artwork. With his vintage jewelers saw, he inlayed these materials by hand into Jerry’s guitars. Now the eagle was truly soaring. And Jerry’s Tiger & Rosebud guitar pegheads would don this compelling artwork. Always carrying a special mystique with deadheads, for decades now- we’re proud to offer the first official version.
