Wovenfree Custom Shop. Chapter 4 in the Healy Stealie GD Family Deadstock textile series has arrived…
Each jacket in this series features at least 3 original pieces of the 1980’s Grateful Dead Family Steal Your Face prototype fabric generously entrusted to us by Dan Healy’s son Elric. This exact piece of Deadstock satin fabric was used by the band to approve & start the GD necktie collection. It was originally woven circa 1985 {Nearly 40 years ago}. We’ll be repurposing this last remaining yard into patchwork until it’s gone.
This jacket also features Hand Loomed vintage Guatemalan cotton & wool ZigZag woven textiles that kindly meet the history & rarity of this Deadstock SYF fabric. It also features full back panel patchwork rather than just the upper back yoke.
Having a creative craftswoman like Rainwater in the studio is a true blessing. She arranges, cuts & sews the front/back patchwork, layering in choice rare vintage fabrics we’ve been collecting for decades, single needling it all together beautifully. Check out the vintage Navajo neutral weave and deep blue dungaree denim.
*Pictured in Deadstock vintage sand corduroy. Levi’s premium trucker jacket. Standard fit. If you’d like to see photos of other fabrics, email info@wovenfree.com.
We warranty our sewing for life. Each jacket is one of a kind. Please allow 6-7 weeks for delivery.
