Limited Deadstock Studio Release. Original John Mayer Guitar Strap Hemp Slacker. The very last of this vintage jacquard fabric. A personal tribute to Mayer, whose deep musical friendship with Weir gives us so much to be Grateful for. Here’s the backstory…

In 2011 we crafted a small collection of guitar straps that soon fell into Mayer’s hands and appeared on the Born & Raised live studio sessions, paired with his blonde ’52 Fender Tele. The guitar & strap soon disappeared together for a good minute…until 10 years later when the infamous Tele was busted back out on Dead & Co ’22 Summer Tour. And sure enough the strap took the Long Strange Trip right along with the guitar. Check out the photo gallery for the story in images, then and now.

Each beanie features a piece of this original textile cut from the same fabric rolls that we made John’s original strap from. This jacquard was originally woven circa 1968 on an early perforated card loom for the Ace Guitar Strap Company, then left for Dead. Nearly 50 years old & has been preserved in pristine condition. The ultra rare 2-inch width pattern is characterized by geometric center ovals & classic wide arrow 12-thread edge work. Traditional weaving techniques we no longer see.
